To Remove Biro Ink Stain From Fabric

Post by aardvaark »

Somehow my handbag biro got unprotected and it drew all over the front of my light-coloured coat! :o

I sprayed it liberally with Elnett hairspray, and to my amazement the stain vanished right in front of my eyes! Magic!

Apparently, the better quality the hairspray the more effective, as it has more alcohol in it, which acts as a solvent.

That is a good Tip Aardi, unfortunately there is
no hairspray in this house!

Aftershave might do it, Mike, or nail varnish remover! Anything containg a high alcoholic content might work.

Be careful with nail varnish remover Aardi
it contains acetone and that melts/disolves
plastics.

Man made fabric is plastic under various names.

Thank you Aardy. What a brilliant tip.
Of course Gin or Whiskey may also do it. I bet Mike has some of that in the house. :wow:

I don't like whiskey this is either Irish or American
spelled with an "E" in it, my Whisky is the real one,
but I only use it for toddies as it doesn't agree with
me, also I don't drink Gin, never have since 1960.
